Berlin/Zug, 20 September 2022 – Arkad Partners GmbH (Arkad) has acquired Cloos Electronic GmbH (Cloos Electronic), a leading Swiss provider of electronic products and components for the automation, medical and security technology sectors, through the newly established Swiss Electronic Solutions AG.

Cloos Electronic was founded in 1986 as a business unit of Carl Cloos Schweißtechnik GmbH for the production of electronic circuit boards and digital control systems. Since then, the company has developed into a leading EMS provider in Switzerland with a high degree of vertical integration. Its product portfolio includes electronic circuit boards using THT and SMD technologies, specialist electronic devices and integrated systems, manufactured at its site in Le Locle, Switzerland. In 2022, Cloos Electronic is expected to generate profitable revenues of more than €24 million with around 70 employees.

Arkad’s objective is to build on Cloos Electronic’s existing business, strengthen its market position and expand into new areas of application.

Robert Klossek, long-standing Managing Director of Cloos Electronic and a key contributor to the company’s development, will remain with the business. Tobias R. Wiese, Partner at Arkad, commented: “We look forward to working with Mr Klossek, who will also make a significant co-investment in the company as part of the transaction.”

Going forward, the focus will be on expanding established business areas with strong growth potential. The existing customer base provides a strong foundation for further growth in sectors such as security and medical technology. At the same time, Arkad plans to develop new markets, including through partnerships with companies active in energy generation and storage.

PwC and CMS advised Arkad on the transaction. Ebner Stolz advised Carl Cloos Schweißtechnik on the M&A process as well as legal and tax matters. The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial terms of the transaction.
